The Palestinian ministry of health in Gaza has said that Rantisi Hospital can no longer provide its cancer patients with chemotherapy as of Sunday morning.
Spokesman for the ministry Ashraf al-Qudra stated on Saturday that the warehouses of the health ministry and its hospitals had run out of vital drugs used to treat cancer.
Qudra warned that the failure to provide treatment for hundreds of cancer patients would put their lives in real danger stressing the need to find a swift solution to the medicine crisis in Gaza.
According to the health authorities in Gaza 90 percent of the specialized drugs needed for the treatment of cancer has become unavailable in hospitals and medical centers.
This scarcity of medical supplies and drugs has been gradually aggravating in the besieged enclave since the Ramallah-based ministry of health decided not to provide Gaza with its share of medical supplies which are shipped by donor countries.
