Ministry of Agriculture condemns Israeli violations in Gaza

Tuesday 7-February-2017

Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture in Gaza condemned Israeli semi-daily violations practiced against farmers and fishermen in the besieged enclave the latest of which was shelling poultry farms east of Gaza City on Monday evening. It also condemned the Israeli systematic targeting of fishing boats off Gaza shores.

In a statement on Tuesday the Ministry said that the repeated Israeli offenses aim at destroying the Palestinian agriculture and fishing sectors.

The Ministry held the Israeli Occupation Authority (IOA) fully responsible for the lives of Gazan farmers and fishermen. It called on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to pressure the IOA in order to halt its aggressive practices against the Palestinian people.

The statement also called for lifting the Israeli siege on Gaza and asked international human rights institutions to document the new Israeli crimes against the agriculture and economic sectors in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
