Head of Hamas’s foreign political bureau Khaled Mishaal has said that there are efforts being made by Egypt Turkey Qatar and the US administration to contain the military escalation between Gaza and Israel.
In recent remarks to the Turkish TRT satellite channel Mishaal stressed the need for the Israeli occupation state and its settlers to stop defiling the Aqsa Mosque and respect the Palestinian people’s freedom of worship and their right to enter the Mosque with no restriction in order for the escalation to come to a halt.
“[Israel] also must stop the crime of displacing Sheikh Jarrah residents release the detainees who were arrested by its forces in recent events and end its aggression against Gaza” the Hamas leader added.
“The Israeli occupation played with fire and pulled the trigger that set off the current crisis when its forces stormed the Aqsa Mosque and the resistance in Gaza had warned Israel for several days to stop its aggression against Jerusalem” he underlined.
“The struggle against the Israeli occupation is a national struggle to liberate the land” Mishaal emphasized.
“No one can deprive the Palestinian people of their right to resist and Gaza of its right to rise up for Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque” he said.
