DAMASCUS (PIC)– Khaled Mishaal the Hamas top leader on Monday asked Lebanese premier Fuad Seniora and other Arab officials over the phone to spare Palestinian refugees in Naher Al-Bared refugee camp in northern Lebanon.
Seniora according to a Hamas press release positively responded to Mishaal’s call and promised to preserve Palestinian and Lebanese civilians’ lives.
The Hamas leader had made similar telephone contacts with Amre Mousa the Arab league secretary general and prince Saud Al-Faisal the Saudi foreign ministers for the same purpose. He asked both to exert their good offices to ensure that no Palestinian civilian is hurt in the refugee camp’s standoff.
He also asked both officials to initiate contacts to halt the “ongoing Zionist savage aggression” on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. Mishaal asked the Arab countries to live up to their financial commitments to the PA government to break the unjust siege imposed on the Palestinian people.
Violent clashes are currently underway between the Lebanese army and Fatah-Islam faction in Naher Al-Bared refugee camp where projectiles tanks and heavy machineguns are being used in the confrontation.
