Tuesday 28-November-2006

Khaled Mishaal the political bureau chief of the Hamas Movement on Sunday conferred in Damascus with the Russian deputy foreign minister Alexander Sultanov on the Arab-Israeli conflict and Palestinian developments.

The Movement’s media office said that the talks also tackled a number of regional questions.

Mishaal who had just concluded a Cairo visit that focused on a Palestinian-Israeli prisoners’ exchange deal affirmed the importance of the Russian and European role in leading an international action to assist the Palestinian people in achieving their national legitimate rights and to end the “oppressive siege on the Palestinian people.”

In a press conference in Cairo Mishaal said that the world community should secure the establishment of a Palestinian state on 1967 occupied lands and the return of refugee within six months after formation of the PA unity government or else face the danger of PA collapse and eruption of a third intifada.
