Mishaal in Cairo for talks on unity government exchange of prisoners

Cairo – Khaled Mishaal political bureau chairman of the Hamas Movement on Thursday arrived in Cairo at the head of a senior level delegation for talks with Egyptian officials on the Palestinian national unity government and the exchange of prisoners.

Sources close to the delegation said that Mishaal would discuss in Cairo a group of issues also including the Israeli military escalation on the Gaza Strip PA unity government and the question of the Israeli captured soldier in the Strip.

For his part Ezzet Al-Resheq one of the Hamas political leaders said that Mishaal arrived at dawn Thursday in Cairo for talks with Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman.

He explained that the talks would focus on resumption of Egyptian efforts aimed at reaching an acceptable deal for the exchange of prisoners with the Hebrew state in addition to practical means of lifting the siege imposed on the Palestinian people and government.

He added that Mishaal would brief the Egyptian official on latest developments pertaining to the formation of a national unity government and other developments in the Palestinian arena.
