Nickolay Mladenov UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process has warned that the besieged Gaza Strip is on the brink of another war with Israel while the tension in the West Bank is growing.
In remarks to the BBC satellite channel Mladenov voiced concern that the deterioration of the situation in Gaza in particular could lead to the outbreak of another war.
He also expressed fears that president Mahmoud Abbas’s strategy for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state became threatened stressing the need for an international consensus on any new peace plan presented by the US administration.
