The Palestinian Land Research Center on Saturday said that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have erected a new military barrier in al-Khalil raising the number of the barriers currently strangling its villages and towns to 31.
The Center said in a statement that the IOF on Friday evening installed a temporary checkpoint at the entrance to Kharsa village southwest of al-Khalil in response to an alleged stone-throwing attack.
The Center added that Israeli military restrictions including the erection of makeshift barriers and checkpoints have been intensified recently in al-Khalil.
The Israeli forces use this collective punishment method in the West Bank to crack down on the Palestinian people believing that such restrictions would push parents to pressure their children to stop throwing stones at Israeli settlers.
