The Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories Sheikh Mohamed Husain has warned of the recent dissemination of incomplete versions of the Holy Koran.
Sheikh Mohamed Husain said the concerned version lacks pages 192 195 196 and 199 which is a sign of a flagrant deficiency in the newly-circulated edition.
The version has reportedly been published by the Egyptian-Syrian Publishing House under permission No. 41 issued on April 29 2015 by the al-Azhar Islamic Research Complex in Egypt.
Husain called on owners of libraries and publishing houses along with the Muslim and non-Muslim readership to hand over such deficient version to the House of Ifta so as to take the necessary measures.
The Holy Quran consists of 60 sections comprising 114 Sourahs (chapters) overall.
According to Muslims’ common expectations committing Quran to memory is both an obligation and an asset. Thus memorizers of Quran are very much revered within the Muslim community.
Preaching love peace justice and tolerance and repudiating hatred violence and discrimination the Holy Quran is incontestably the only book divine or secular that has been memorized from beginning to end by millions of people around the world.
