National commission urges gov’t to find real solutions to Gaza crises

Tuesday 30-January-2018

The National Anti-Siege and Reconstruction Commission has called on the Ramallah-based government to find concrete solutions to the dire humanitarian situation in the beleaguered Gaza Strip and condemned its latest statement on Gaza.

“The government is demanded to provide real answers to the humanitarian situation in Gaza and not only emergency solutions by sending aid” the commission stated in a press release on Monday.

The commission stressed that the government in its entirety should come to Gaza and handle its responsibilities in a honest and real way instead of shunning its obligations and persisting in imposing sanctions on its employees service sectors and charitable institutions.

It asked the government to take bold steps and to stop using flimsy pretexts to justify its dereliction and urged all the national factions to take serious positions to save the situation in Gaza.

The commission also said that “the government’s statement on Monday did not live up to the people’s expectations nor to the enormity of the humanitarian disaster that has beset the besieged Strip for 12 years.”

Describing the statement as “unfortunate and unexpected” the commission said it had contained several inaccuracies that reflected that the government was never serious about addressing the problems especially the health crisis which the population in Gaza suffers from.
