Netanyahu storms Susya village in Masafer Yatta

Monday 15-March-2021

Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials on Sunday stormed the Palestinian ancient village of Susya in Masafer Yatta south of al-Khalil.

According to local sources a large number of Jewish settlers accompanied Netanyahu during his presence in Susya village.

Meanwhile tight military and security measures were imposed on Masafer Yatta where activists and media crews were prevented from entering the area.

Earlier a popular march was organized in Yatta town in protest at Netanyahu’s scheduled visit to Susya.

Local sources said that Israeli forces attacked hundreds of participants in the march including foreign activists and officials of civil groups and showered them with tear gas and stun grenades upon their arrival in an area near Susya.

Ahead of his visit Netanyahu’s office said he would go to the village to inaugurate an archeological site belonging to a Jewish outpost in the area.

In this regard the Hebrew media said that Netanyahu pledged during the visit to authorize illegal West Bank settler outposts should the results of the March 23 election allow him to create a right-wing government.

“I swear to you: If I create a strong right-wing government without a rotation I will take care of the settlements and the authorization of the young settlements [outposts]” he said.
