New Israeli settlement plan to displace 300 families in Negev

Thursday 30-December-2021

The Israeli Interior minister Ayelet Shaked visited the Negev south of 1948 Occupied Palestine on Tuesday and announced a new settlement plan.

The plan includes the establishment of 4 new settlements in the “Azazma” areas in the southern Negev.

The move will therefore lead to the displacement of 300 Palestinian families.

The local committee in Bir Hadaj denounced Shaked’s announcement saying that the new settlement plan only aims at displacing and expelling families from their lands.

More than 300 Palestinian families will be expelled from their lands and their homes demolished as a prelude to establishing a new Jewish-only settlement the committee warned.

The head of the local committee in Bir Hadaj village Salim al-Dinfiri said that Shaked’s settlement plan was previously submitted and refused by local residents.

Bir Hadaj is a Bedouin agricultural town located in the Negev desert inhabited by thousands of Palestinians.

The new settlement is scheduled to be built on 2500 dunums of the town’s lands displacing more than 300 Palestinian families.
