The US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley on Saturday withdrew the accusation she made before saying that Qatar funds the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas.
According to BuzzFeed News the US official said in a memo to the Congress that Qatar only allows Hamas leaders to be based in it with the aim of limiting Iran’s influence over the Movement.
Haley explained that Qatar has offered aid to the Gaza Strip in the fields of housing and health care in fulfillment of the pledges it made in the Gaza Reconstruction Conference held in Cairo in 2014.
She affirmed that the reversal in her position came as the government has no evidence supporting the previous accusations.
