Sunday 15-May-2022

According to Palestinian official sources the total population of Palestinians worldwide reached 12.4 million by the end of 2021 which means that the number of Palestinians has multiplied about ten-fold since the Nakba in 1948.

Statistical data also show that Palestinians constitute 49.9% of people living in historic Palestine while Jews constitute 50.1% of the total population. Furthermore the Israeli occupation continues its control over 85% of the total area of Palestine which amounts to 27 thousand square kilometers.

Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) reported on Sunday that the total number of Palestinian refugees was around 6.4 million 28.4% of whom live in 58 camps. PCBS underlined that this is the minimum number of refugees as many of them are not registered.

Based on the PCBS report issued on the 74th anniversary of Nakba the Nakba resulted in the displacement of 800000 Palestinians out of the 1.4 million Palestinians who were living in historic Palestine in 1948 in 1300 villages and towns.

The report also pointed out that the number of Arab and Palestinian martyrs has increased to reach 100000 since the Nakba while one million have been arrested since 1967.

Palestinians commemorate the anniversary of the Nakba Day annually on the 15th of May when 800000 Palestinians were displaced 500 villages were razed and scores of bloody massacres were carried out.
