Occupation forces announce a state of alert in the West Bank

Friday 14-December-2012

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– Israeli occupation forces decided to announce a state of high alert in the West Bank in anticipation of the outbreak of clashes with Palestinians after Friday prayers in light of the escalated clashes in a number of cities particularly in al-Khalil.

The Hebrew radio reported that the occupation forces and the border guards’ forces have taken the necessary preparations in case of any emergency after Friday prayers in different cities and villages in the West Bank.

The Israeli troops had recently announced that they had started some time ago to get ready for possibilities of the outbreak of a third Palestinian uprising in the West Bank especially in light of what they have called “a series of security incidents.”

A Hebrew newspaper also quoted on Thursday the spokesman for the Israeli army as saying: “There is  fear that the series of the recent security incidents will develop to become a third intifada.”

The wave of violence in the West Bank cities has been escalating. It began with last month’s war on the Gaza Strip and continued yesterday with clashes in al-Khalil between Palestinians and Israel Occupation Forces following funeral of a youth who had been shot dead by the IOF.
