TULKAREM (PIC)– Palestinian residents living in the northern West Bank were surprised by new steps taken by the IOF to make their movement between towns and villages more difficult through setting up new roadblocks and tightening security on existing one.
The IOF closed tens of roads including dirt roads that connect towns and villages.
Eyewitnesses told PIC that IOF troops escorted huge bulldozers on Thursday and used them to close dirt roads in the Tulkarem district and that on Friday morning the main road connecting Bala’a to Tulkarem was closed using mounds of earth and rocks. The Bizzarya-Tulkarem road was also closed. These two roads connect the Tulkarem district with the Jenin district.
Furthermore dirt roads connecting Bala’a with Deir al-Ghsoun Anabta and Ektaba. This was preceded on Thursday by the closure of dirt roads connecting Deir al-Ghsoun Attil Zeita and Baka al-Sharqeyya.
The IOF troops also continued on Friday for the fourth day in a row to impose strict security measures at the Jbara and Annab roadblocks to the south and east of Tulkarem resulting in the delay of passengers for long hours. People aged 35 years or less were not allowed through those roadblocks. Cars are not allowed to cross these road blocks.
Local sources also reported that the IOF are closing roads connecting Nablus Jenin Tulkarem and Qalqilya in the northern West Bank.
