GAZA (PIC)– Israeli premier Ehud Olmert on Sunday warmly welcomed the (so-called) PA emergency government led by Salam Fayyad’s steps against the Palestinian resistance factions’ armed wings.
Olmert was quoted by Hebrew media as saying at the start of the weekly Israeli cabinet session that such measures which included banning arms and dismantling “armed militias” would help boost coordination between the PA and Israel and would push forward the peace process.
The premier also declared that his army would continue its incursions into Palestinian areas in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip saying that the “war on terrorism” would continue unabated.
PA chief Mahmoud Abbas had issued orders banning the armed wings of resistance factions and outlawing their weapons.
