The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) issued more than 300 administrative detention orders against Palestinian prisoners and detainees during the current month October.
In a statement on Saturday the Palestinian commission of detainees’ and ex-detainees’ affairs said that the number of administrative detainees surged to 750 Palestinians.
The commission condemned Israel’s administrative detention policy as “mass punishment and political vengeance against the Palestinian people” stressing that Israel uses this type of imprisonment as a tool of suppression instead of holding fair trials.
According to the commission there are a number of detainees who have spent more than 15 years in administrative custody for different periods because of their exposure to repeated arrests without court orders or indictments.
