GAZA (PIC)– The PA foreign ministry on Wednesday said that Dr. Ziad Abu Amre the PA foreign minister had received an official invitation from his British counterpart Margaret Beckett to visit London.
An FM statement said that contacts are underway to determine the date of the visit and its itinerary and added that Abu Amre is expected to meet other British officials and to deliver a lecture at Chatham House also known as the Royal Institute of International Affairs which is considered one of the most prominent research centers in the UK.
The statement noted that the minister received another invitation to visit Qatar in the period May 25-27 pointing out that Abu Amre would attend on the sidelines of his official visit the second forum for democracy and political reform in the Arab countries.
The minister is also scheduled to embark on an official visit to Jordan next Saturday 12/5 the first of its kind since he assumed office two months ago during which he is to meet with his Jordanian opposite number Abdul Ilah Al-Khatib and other officials the statement said.
It said that his talks in Amman are to focus on Palestinian-Jordanian relations current local and regional developments along with Arab efforts to revive the Arab Middle East peace initiative.
The ministry also said that Abu Amre is slated to go to Brussels after his Jordan visit to meet the EU foreign and security commissioner Javier Solana along with other European officials.
Abu Amre is finally to attend the Euro-Arab foreign ministerial committee that would be held to table the Arab peace initiative and he would hold one-on-one meetings with European chief diplomats to discuss lifting the siege imposed on the Palestinian people and starting direct dealing with the PA unity government in addition to resuming direct aid to the government and restoring Palestinian customs money frozen by the Tel Aviv government.
