Member of the Palestinian Legislative Council for Fatah Movement Najat Abu Bakr revealed on Tuesday that the Palestinian Authority (PA) in Ramallah had cut her monthly salary.
MP Abu Bakr said according to Quds Press that she was surprised by a call from the bank informing her that her bank account was frozen and that her monthly salary was withdrawn and returned to the PA Ministry of Finance.
Abu Bakr affirmed that she has not received any official decision on this move adding that she will resort to the judiciary and file an objection to the decision.
She stressed that cutting her salary will not force her to change her positions as a representative of the Palestinian people who was elected to serve them.
The PA president Mahmoud Abbas issued a decision late in 2016 to lift the parliamentary immunity of five Fatah MPs including Abu Bakr.
