A security force from the Palestinian Authority (PA) intelligence agency on Monday evening kidnapped Osama Mafarjeh coordinator of the Islamic Bloc at Birzeit University and Omar Kaswani head of the student union council of the university before releasing the latter.
According to local sources elements from the PA intelligence intercepted the car Kaswani was driving on a road in Abu Qash village leading to Ramallah city and rounded him up along with Mafarjeh who was traveling with him.
PA intelligence officers interrogated Kaswani and then released him but decided to confiscate his car ID card and laptop and detain his friend Mafarjeh without stating the reason for such measure.
For its part the Islamic Bloc at Birzeit University has strongly denounced the PA security apparatuses for kidnapping two of its members and their persistence in persecuting students for politically-motivated reasons despite the current efforts to end the national division.
