PA interior minister suspends his resignation resumes normal work

Sunday 13-May-2007

GAZA (PIC)– PA interior minister Hani Al-Kawasmi has announced on Sunday the withdrawal of his resignation and the resumption of his job with the aim to implement an agreement reached between PA chief Mahmoud Abbas and PA premier Ismael Haneyya on security condition.

A statement issued by the interior ministry after Kawasmi’s announcement affirmed that the minister will start organizing and equipping the joint security forces that was commissioned to execute the security plan.

Three weeks ago Kawasmi submitted a blueprint of his ministry’s security plan which was unanimously agreed by members of the PA unity government.

“Out of the minister’s national concern and comprehension of the dangers engulfing the Palestinian community due to the security mess he decided to suspend his resignation and to return to job in order to help alleviate suffering of the Palestinian people” the statement underscored.

Kawasmi rendered his resignation a couple of week ago to premier Haneyya protesting lack of authority and logistical supplies and meddling of a number of PA security officers close to Abbas in his job.

But a series of marathon meeting held between him Abbas and Haneyya succeeded in resolving all hanging matters and removing all impediments derailing the minister’s work as both Palestinians leaders assured him and of full backing to his efforts in restoring peace and security in the Palestinian community.

In the same context spokesman of the PA unity government Dr. Ghazi Hamad affirmed that Haneyya and Kawasmi agreed to start procedural steps in implementing the security plan on the ground.

“We have a general orientation in the government to commence the implementation of the plan in order to get rid of the rampant security mess in the PA-run lands” Hamad said asserting that the joint operation room of PA security apparatuses will meet on Monday to start actual implementation of the scheme.
