PA interior minister unveils 100-day security plan to curb security mess

GAZA (PIC)– Hani Al-Kawasme the PA interior minister unveiled on Thursday that his department prepared a 100-day security plan to impose law and order in the PA-run lands and end security mess there.

The minister also affirmed that the short-range plan will be presented to the PA council of ministers during an extraordinary session on Saturday for endorsement.

“The plan aims at restoring the prestige of the PA security men in the Palestinian street and rebuilding people’s confidence in them as we will deploy them throughout the PA-administered territories” Kawasme affirmed in an interview with Ma’an news agency.

When asked on the fate of the executive force of the ministry Kawasme explained “Fate of the force will be in line of an overall restructuring process in the PA security apparatuses to rebuild them on national basis away from factionalism”.

One of the main points in the Makkah accord signed between Fatah and Hamas Movements was the reorganizing and restructuring of the PA security apparatuses on healthy and national standards among other crucial points.

Referring to the issue of kidnapped BBC reporter Alan Johnston who entered his fourth week in captivity the PA minister affirmed that the case will be over soon.

He underlined that contacts between his ministry the government and Palestinian forces are underway in a bid to secure the reporter’s safe release.
