A senior security officer was suspended and interrogated only a few days after the national security commander of Tulkarem was replaced by the Palestinian Authority (PA) as punishment for intercepting an Israeli military patrol at the main entrance to the city.
Informed sources told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that the incident had happened a few days ago when Palestinian officers from the national security stopped an Israeli patrol of soldiers on its way to Tulkarem city.
The national security apparatus declared recently that it had transferred commander of Tulkarem Mohamed Hammuda to the national security office in Ramallah and appointed Zahi Abu Salam in his place.
Another senior officer who led the PA national security patrol that intercepted the Israeli military force was suspended and placed under interrogation.
The apparatus also made other job reshuffles and suspensions following the incident according to the sources.
The PA security leadership took those measures after it had received a sharp rebuke from the Israeli liaison office they added.
