PFB hosts an iftar for a thousand guests in London

On Monday 27th May 2019 the Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB) hosted its 5th annual Iftar at Byron hall Harrow leisure center in North West London.

The guests included notable activists such as Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi as well as executive director of Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) Aimee Shalan Unionist leader and chair of West London Palestinian Solidarity Campaign Hugh Lanning Colin Monehen of the Labor party with his brave and open stances in support of the Palestinian people Shamiul Joarder from Friends of Alaqsa (FOA) prominent Palestinian leader Attallah Sayed Ghada Hamaad and Dr. Fuad Haddad who were all presented on stage and awarded an honorary badge by the PFB

PFB Spokesperson Adnan Hmidan noted that “this gathering exceeds any tradition Ramadan iftar as this has become a conference for Palestinians and friends of Palestine to renew their solidarity with the Palestinian cause”.

Chair of the PFB Dr. Hafiz Al Karmi expressed that “this gathering is a realistic reaction to anyone who considers letting go of their right as a Palestinian to their land given the great number of attendees keen on maintaining their identity and connection with their history and culture”.

The event witnessed a very interactive and diverse audience especially with the revolutionary words of Palestinian artist Kefah Zreeqy. The event also hosted the largest Maqblooba pot presented by Palestinian youtuber Basil Elhaj. The maqblooba dish holds great meaning for the Palestinians with its history and great taste.

The children at the iftar led a symbolic demonstration throughout the hall chanting for the freedom of the Palestinians while event host Dr. Raghad Altikriti emphasized that “we place our bets on those children to be the future of Palestine and its victory”.

Families from the audience participated with the online Palestine-themed competition. The competition was followed with the Nabulsi Kunafa and Arabic coffee and Sage tea as well as the humus and pastries which all together complete the food table which connects one abroad to their homeland.
