PFLP: Abbas intentions regarding Palestinian reconciliation ambivalent

Monday 6-November-2017

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) said it has doubts over Mahmoud Abbas’s sincerity to implement the terms of the reconciliation deal signed in Cairo.

The PFLP statement was released following the comments made by the Palestinian Prime Minister Rami al-Hamdallah in which he said taking over Gaza’s crossing points is not enough to initiate the government mission in Gaza and that the PA should gain full control of the security file to take up its duties in the enclave.

PFLP leader Rabah Mehanna said al-Hamdallah’s statement might be true “but his intentions are suspicious.”

He added that al-Hamdallah’s remarks raise suspicions as regards the “goodwill” of the PA President Mahmoud Abbas vis-à-vis the reconciliation accord.

Mehanna also said that whoever thinks Hamas has thrown in the towel has only grasped half the truth.
