PFLP champions arranging Palestinian home after unity government

Saturday 17-March-2007

DAMASCUS (PIC)– Senior PFLP political leader Maher Al-Taher has affirmed that his faction will push for the continuation of the Palestinian national dialogue to arrange the Palestinian home although his faction hadn’t joined in the PA unity government.

Furthermore the Damascus-based PFLP leader explained that his faction’s rejection to participate in the PA unity government was attributed to its disagreement with the political program of that government.

But he stressed that despite the non-participation of his Front in the unity government it will push for a comprehensive arrangement of the Palestinian internal home and for restructuring the PLO on new and firm basis.

The PFLP is a full-fledged member of the PLO and considered the second influential faction after Fatah in the organization. Hamas and the Islamic Jihad aren’t members of the PLO.

In an unrelated matter secretary of the PA council of ministers in the PA caretaker government Dr. Mohammed Awad urged kidnappers of BBC reporter Alan Johnston to immediately release him in order to preserve the shiny image of the Palestinian people before the world’s countries.

Awad also condemned the shooting incident at the car of UNRWA director in Gaza Strip John Ging describing him as a “good and respected man” adding that Ging has achieved a lot of good things to the Palestinian people.

He described kidnappers of Johnston and those who shot at Ging’s vehicle as “vandal groups that deviated from the Palestinian national line”.

An Islamic Jihad spokesman also condemned the attack describing it as “cowardly”. He added that those culprits only served the “Israeli enemy’s interests”.
