PFLP decries PA’s attempts to resume negotiations with Israel

Saturday 17-February-2018

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) on Saturday denounced the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) desperate attempts to resume negotiations with the Israeli occupation though it had decided to sever relations with it and halt all peace projects.

The PFLP slammed in a statement the recent meetings between the PA government’s premier Rami Hamdallah and the Coordinator of the Israeli Government Activities in the Territories Yoav Mordechai in Ramallah and between the Palestinian Minister of Economy Abeer Oudeh and her Israeli counterpart Eli Cohen in Paris.

It affirmed that such meetings which constitute a blatant disregard for the Palestinian people’s suffering indicate that the PA is unwilling to stop security coordination with Israel and put an end to the Palestinian economy’s dependence on Israel which has been entrenched by the Paris Protocol.

The statement noted that the PA’s persistence in adopting this destructive policy will lead to further deterioration in the economic and social conditions especially in the besieged Gaza Strip in view of the Authority’s procrastination in lifting the sanctions imposed on it and assuming its responsibilities toward the Palestinian citizens living there.

The PFLP stressed that any approach that does not go in line with the resolutions of the international legitimacy which recognize the rights of Palestinians is unacceptable and that the attempts made by the PA to replace the US sponsorship of negotiations with international auspices are rejected because it will be no different from the so-called Quartet on the Middle East which is known for its bias in favor of Israel.
