PLC Quds committee appeals to the world to save Islamic shrines

Monday 30-April-2007

GAZA (PIC)– The Quds (Jerusalem) committee in the PLC on Monday appealed to the Arabs Muslims and freedom loving nations to immediately act to save the Islamic and Christian holy shrines and relics in Palestine in face of unabated Israeli excavation and destruction.

The committee asked the Arab League and the OIC along with human rights organizations and concerned international agencies to launch a concerted campaign to save those shrines and relics the soonest.

It asked the PA presidency and premiership to shoulder their responsibility in protecting those precious shrines and relics and to embark on a large-scale political and information campaign in this direction.

The committee recalled that the latest Israeli violation was the destruction of the higher Islamic council building in occupied Jerusalem that was built in 1929 at the pretext it was owned by “absent” proprietors and was thus confiscated under Absentee Property Law which was specially created to “legally” confiscate the property of Palestinians forced out by Zionist gangs in 1948. The committee underlined that the building is a Wakf (endowment) property that no one had the right to surrender or to confiscate.

It finally urged all Palestinian factions to have a say in the issue and to actively work for deterring Israel against pursuing such destructive behavior.
