PLC to hold emergency session on IOA excavations

Sunday 18-February-2007

GAZA (PIC)– The Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) announced on Sunday that it would hold an emergency session on Tuesday to discuss the Israeli occupation threats to the holy city of Jerusalem.

A PLC statement said that the council members would discuss the IOA measures in the vicinity of the holy Aqsa Mosque and the Old City in Jerusalem.

The PLC Quds committee had condemned the IOA excavations at the holy site charging that the digging fell in line with the Israeli policy targeting the judaization of the occupied city and changing its historical and religious landmarks.

The IOA started on Tuesday 6/2 demolishing the historic road leading to the Magharba gate at the western wall of the Aqsa Mosque.

For his par Ra’fat Nassif one of the Hamas Movement’s political leaders warned of the serious repercussions of Israeli attempts to normalize relations with Arab and Islamic countries on the situation in occupied Jerusalem.

Nassif who is imprisoned in the Israeli Beer Sheba prison said that the recent Israeli senior level visits to a number of Arab and Islamic countries topped by Qatar Jordan and Turkey aimed at neutralizing those countries over the issue of excavations at the Aqsa Mosque.
