PLC urges world parliaments to pressure IOA to release kidnapped MPs

Monday 12-February-2007

GAZA (PIC)– The PLC has urged Arab Islamic and world parliaments along with human rights organizations to demand the release of all its members kidnapped at the hands of the IOF troops to contribute to the formation of the new government.

Dr. Ahmed Bahar the acting PLC speaker said that the release of those kidnapped lawmakers would help find stability in the Palestinian community and the region in general.

He particularly asked Saudi Arabia which patronized the Makkah accord between Hamas and Fatah movements and the Arab countries in general to exert all possible efforts for that end so that the PLC could perform its duties.

Bahar in a press release said that all Palestinian factions have unanimously agreed not to form a national unity government while the MPs were in Israeli captivity.

How can the PLC grant confidence to the new government while its speaker Dr. Aziz Duwaik and one third of its members are held in occupation jails he wondered.

The acting speaker said that the PLC was prepared to start constitutional and legal steps towards forming a new government and to hold a session within ten days to vote on the confidence.
