PLO executive committee goes to UNSC

Tuesday 14-February-2017

The PLO executive committee decided to suspend the proposal of tabling the Israeli settlements with the International Criminal Court and opted instead to head to the UN Security Council according to Qais Abd al-Karim PLO executive committee member.

Abd al-Karim told Quds Press on Tuesday “Israeli leaders violate laws and agreements that prohibit settlement activities in Palestine.”

“Heading to the International Criminal Court is the most effective decision in the light of the recent events” Abd al-Karim explained adding “the cancellation of such a move is unjustified.”

“The decision of going to the UNSC aims at implementing the 2334 resolution issued in December 2016 which deemed all settlement activities in Palestine as illegal” he pointed out.

The UN Security Council approved a resolution last December with the approval of 14 countries demanding Israel to halt all settlement activities in the West Bank including Jerusalem and deemed all settlements built since 1967 as illegal.
