PPS: Ben Gvir is “mentally disturbed person”

Monday 7-November-2022

The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) has warned of the far-right ideas Itamar Ben Gvir head of Israel’s Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power) intends to put forward as preconditions for his party to join the new government coalition.

In press remarks on Monday PPS chairman Qaddura Fares described Ben Gvir as a “mentally disturbed person” whose behavior cannot be governed or curbed by any Israeli political and security calculations.

Fares said that giving Ben Gvir the public security portfolio would be an opportunity for him to realize his racist ideas and deep-seated hatred against the Palestinian people in general and the prisoners in particular.

He called for formulating a Palestinian action plan or a strategy aimed at building a broad front at home and abroad to confront and address the great strategic dangers threatening the Palestinian people and their national cause.

Ben Gvir notorious for his extremist views and violent practices recently voiced his aspiration to be appointed public security minister in order for him to take tougher measures against the Palestinians including the prisoners.
