Friday 30-December-2022

The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) has held Israel responsible for the repercussions of arresting the Palestinian ex-prisoner Mushir al-Shahatit stressing that his health condition is serious.

In a press statement on Friday the PPS said that prisoner Shahatit who was arrested on Thursday was released last September after he had been held under administrative detention for 22 months.

The PPS affirmed that Israel is practicing deliberate medical negligence against prisoner Shahatit calling on the concerned organizations to work towards releasing him and providing him with the medical care he needs.

Israeli occupation forces stormed Shahatit’s house in Dura town in al-Khalil governorate at dawn Thursday and arrested him according to his wife.

She added that her husband’s health condition is serious and he needs special medical care stressing that colostomy bags are attached to his body.

Prisoner Shahatit suffers from problems in the blood cells and the intestines. His health condition deteriorated during his last arrest as he underwent medical surgery in the Ramleh prison clinic.

35-year-old Shahatit who was arrested seven times is a father of three children. He spent ten years in Israeli jails.
