CAIRO (PIC)– The popular resistance committees rejected Friday the suggestions that the national unity government to be formed should abide by the agreements signed by the PLO adding that it would not be at the mercy of external conditions especially those of the international quartet.
Abu Mujahid the spokesman for the committees said in a statement received by the PIC that there are some obstacles faced by the committee on the government especially with regard to the government’s political agenda and its commitment to the PLO’s agreements signed with other parties.
Abu Mujahid suggested that there is a solution to this obstacle stipulating the respect of the PLO’s agreements without declaring commitment to them adding that this wording is a better way out of this dilemma.
The spokesman pointed out that such outstanding issues would be referred to the committee grouping the general secretaries of all factions to find solutions satisfying all parties concerned.
He underlined that the Palestinian rivals participating in the national dialog are obliged to reach an agreement protecting the resistance and the national rights and constants.
For his part Zuheir Al-Qaisi a member of the popular resistance committees’ central command expressed optimism about the success of the inter-Palestinian dialog in Cairo.
In a press statement received by the PIC Qaisi said that he noticed a deep sense of responsibility among the participants in the five committees and their keenness on reaching an agreement saving the Palestinian people from their suffering and enabling them to stand in the face of the Israeli schemes woven against Palestine and its holy places.
He stressed the need to return from Cairo talks with a language protecting the national rights and constants and the resistance against the Israeli occupation.
In a press release received by the PIC Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum warned Friday that any conditions placed by Fatah on the dialog process especially the committee on the government and its attempt to evade the file of political prisoners in the West Bank adversely affect the whole national dialog.
Barhoum underscored that his Movement categorically rejects the conditions made by Fatah such as the government’s commitment to PLO’s agreements which include the recognition of Israel and the international quartet’s terms.
The spokesman stressed that the Palestinian reconciliation does not need external agendas or recognition of occupation but rather it must be discussed within a national framework and according to a Palestinian agenda fulfilling the interests of the Palestinian people.
He noted that there is an attempt by Fatah to evade the file of political arrest and to disavow the pledges it made in Egypt last month in the presence of Palestinian factions.
The spokesman added that Fatah pursues the policy of revolving door through releasing a number of political prisoners from West Bank jails and then arrest another number larger than those who were released.
