NABLUS (PIC)- The Palestine Scholars League on Wednesday called on PA chief Mahmoud Abbas to cancel his call for early legislative elections opining that the call only “complicated things more”.
The PSL said that Abbas’ call posed as a “coup” against Palestinian democracy. It championed the formation of a national unity government through dialogue.
The League appealed to all citizens to unite and to shun resorting to arms to resolve differences expressing utter sorrow for such bloodshed at the hands of Palestinians and the shooting at the premier the foreign and interior ministers and the killing of the three children in Gaza.
For her part MP Mona Mansour held Abbas responsible for the security deterioration in the Palestinian lands which worsened following his call for early elections.
She said that Abbas’ speech raised confusion in the Palestinian street because he spoke as a leader of Fatah and not the entire Palestinian people and described his call as “illegal and unconstitutional”.
Mona said that the main goal of holding early elections is to topple the current Hamas-led government because it came against the liking of the USA and Israel.
