Painful message from 9 months pregnant prisoner Anhar ad-Deek

Thursday 26-August-2021

Nine months pregnant prisoner Anhar ad-Deek from Ramallah has sent a painful and heartrending message from inside the Israeli Damon jail.

In a letter published by her family prisoner ad-Deek voiced her fear of giving birth to her new baby inside an Israeli prison and her great sorrow over his current condition.

“I unimaginably miss Julia (her one-year-old daughter). My heart is aching for her and I am dying to hug her and hold her. The pain in my heart cannot be written in lines” she said in her letter.

“What can I do when I give birth while I am away from you and deliver my baby while my hands are shackled? You know what a cesarean delivery could be like outside so you can imagine what it is like in prison while I am handcuffed and alone” she said.

“Oh my Lord I yearn for your mercy. I am very tired and I have severe pains in my pelvis and legs as a result of sleeping on a stiff mattress. I do not know how I am going to sleep on it after the operation.”

“And how can I take my first steps after the operation with the jail watchwoman holding my hand in disgust? They will also send me back to the isolation cell along with my child. I do not know how I will be able to take care of him and protect him from their frightening voices” she added.

Last March the Israeli occupation forces kidnaped Anhar ad-Deek in the first months of her pregnancy on allegations of attacking Jewish settlers.
