A major conference opened in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Saturday with the aim of raising awareness around the world about the Palestinian cause.
Organized by the Palestine International Forum for Media and Communication the two-day conference themed “Palestine Addressing the World” brings together hundreds of journalists academics and writers from different countries around the world.
Hisham Qasem Secretary-General of the forum said in a speech he delivered that the conference aims to mobilize efforts of media people to defend the Palestinian cause.
Qasem condemned the ongoing Israeli violations against journalists and media organizations in the Palestinian territories.
Representative of the Sudanese Journalists Syndicate Al-Sadiq al-Zariqi said that supporting and spreading the Palestinian narrative of the conflict is the duty of all free journalists in the world.
The Indian journalist Eftikhar Jilani said that the media coverage of the Palestinian issue in his country is not available stressing the need to increase awareness regarding the Palestinian cause among the peoples from all over the world.
Palestine Addressing the World is the third conference organized by the Palestine International Forum for Media and Communication with a view to raising world awareness about the Palestinian cause and destroying Israel’s monopoly of the media narrative regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The conference will include many workshops and forums that discuss the art of media discourse and ways to influence world public opinion.
