The Palestinian health ministry in Ramallah said that Palestine has entered “a sixth wave” of coronavirus after the country recently recorded its highest number of daily cases.
In press remarks on Monday health minister Mai al-Kaila stated that about 1000 new cases infected with the deadly virus were reported in a single week in the West Bank alone.
Kaila expressed her concerns about the current health situation urging the public to immediately receive booster vaccinations and abide by preventive measures.
She said she would instruct the local authorities to impose strict measures to curb the virus’s spread.
In its new COVID-19 situation report on Sunday the health ministry said that 1350 citizens tested positive for COVID-19 in the West Bank the Gaza Strip and Jerusalem during the period between June 19 and 25.
