Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday strongly condemned mass break-ins carried out by extremist Israeli settlers into al-Aqsa Mosque earlier in the day.
The Ministry said that these break-ins are part of the escalation targeting al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City in Jerusalem.
The Ministry stressed in a statement that this escalation comes within the framework of an Israeli plan to Judaize the Old City of Jerusalem entrench the temporal division of al-Aqsa Mosque and attract more settlers to participate in the break-ins regularly with the aim of changing the legal and historical status quo in the holy site.
The statement underlined that further coordination with the Kingdom of Jordan is needed to confront the Israeli escalation and called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to act immediately to put an end to Israel’s systematic schemes aimed at altering al-Aqsa Mosque’s identity on a gradual basis.
