A Palestinian activist was assassinated on Friday morning as he entered his apartment in Almaty city in Kazakhstan.
The Palestinian Embassy in Kazakhstan said the Palestinian citizen Dhiaa al-Bashiti was shot in the heart and killed from a zero distance.
Al-Bashiti reportedly succumbed to his wounds 15 minutes after the attack.
The Palestinian Ambassador Montasser Abu Zeid said the casualty is among the founders of the Palestinian community in Almaty.
He added that investigations are ongoing by the Kazakhstani police to uncover the details of the crime.
Preparations have also been underway in coordination with the chairman of the Palestinian Community in Almaty Muhammad al-Hindi to hold al-Bashiti’s funeral procession.
