The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Tuesday kidnapped a Palestinian boy near the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil on allegations that he attempted to stab an Israeli soldier.
Hebrew-speaking news sites supported the allegations by publishing a picture of a knife which they claimed belonged to the arrested boy.
The detainee was identified as 17-year-old Bashar Gheith. He was dragged to an Israeli detention center in Kiryat Arba settlement in the southern occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil.
Tension has been running high in the occupied Palestinian territories after the U.S. President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem—home to Muslims’ third holiest site al-Aqsa Mosque—as Israel’s capital. The move sparked universal protests and condemnation.
