Residents of Battir town west of Bethlehem confronted at dawn Sunday a group of Jewish settlers who were under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and prevented them from leveling land in the town.
Omar al-Qaisi one of the owners of the targeted lands reported that dozens of settlers accompanied by a bulldozer infiltrated at 1 a.m. the areas of Al-Khamar and Al-Qusayr in the northeast of the town to resume the bulldozing activities that they had started three days ago.
Qaisi pointed out that the residents confronted the settlers and blocked them from leveling the lands before they withdrew after about three hours.
He stated that the aim of the bulldozing is to establish a settlement outpost on the lands of the citizens. Jewish settlers had previously set up tents and caravans that were demolished by the townspeople.
Last Friday several settlers under the IOF protection began leveling lands in the Al-Khamar area.
