Palestinian citizens ward off settler attack on W. Bank village

Monday 27-June-2022

Palestinian citizens fended off a horde of extremist settlers who attacked homes on Sunday evening in Madama village south of Nablus.

Local official Ghassan Daghlas said that settlers from the illegal settlement of Yitzhar attacked homes in the southern area of Madama before local residents confronted them and forced them to escape.

Daghlas warned the Palestinian citizens living in villages near Jewish settlers to be vigilant nowadays and form guard committees to protect their homes against possible attacks.

Recently extremist settlers have intensified their attacks on Palestinian citizens and their property under military protection across the occupied West Bank.

A few days ago a Palestinian suffered a head injury and his car was torched after settlers assaulted local farmers in an agricultural area near the villages of al-Mughayyir and Turmus Ayya in eastern Ramallah.

Last Tuesday 27-year-old Ali Harb was stabbed to death by a settler in Iskaka village east of Salfit.

In a separate incident violent clashes broke out on the same day between Palestinian youths and the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in Husan village west of Bethlehem.

Local sources said that the clashes started after the IOF stormed Husan village and embarked on showering young men and homes with tear gas canisters.

Dozens of young men reportedly suffered from their exposure to tear gas during the events.
