Palestinian delegations to take part in Moscow conference

Sunday 10-February-2019

Delegations representing 10 Palestinian factions arrived on Sunday in Moscow to take part in a conference organized by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian issue.

The two-day conference which is set to kick off on Monday will include dialogues aimed at pushing the Palestinian national reconciliation process forward.

The visit comes at a time when the Palestinian cause is witnessing escalating developments the most notable of which is the Great March of Return in the Gaza Strip.

Alexander Shumilin a senior European researcher said that Hamas is keen on maintaining good relations with Russia since it is one of the influential countries in the Middle East which can create balance in the region given the US bias in favor of Israel.

“What is important for Hamas is that Russia refuses to label it as a terrorist movement and recognizes it as a political actor and important component of the Palestinian people” Shumilin said in press statements.
