Sunday 15-November-2015

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– Family of 33-year-old Palestinian detainee Omar Saleh al-Sherif serving 18 life sentences announced on Friday evening their son’s engagement to a Palestinian girl.

Gathering in the fiancée’s family home her brother expressed the family’s most heartfelt happiness and honor to have their 22-year-old daughter Israa betrothed to Omar al-Sherif.

“This is the least we can do for someone who has sacrificed his own freedom for the sake of his people” the brother said.

The detainee’s father expressed the deep pleasure and joy he has felt upon asking for Israa’s hands in marriage for his son.

Responding to a letter sent earlier by prisoner Sherif to ask for Israa’s hand in marriage the fiancée’s mother said: “I will offer you my daughter as soon as you are released from jail.”

For her part the fiancée willingly approved the engagement saying in an address to her fiancé: “I will be waiting for you till the last breath.”

Sherif held in the Negev lock-up was kidnapped by the Israeli occupation troops on June 19 2003 on allegations of direct involvement in an anti-occupation operation.
