Palestinian factions call for intervention to protect Jerusalem

Tuesday 4-July-2017

Palestinian national and Islamic factions held on Tuesday the Israeli government responsible for the serious escalation targeting Occupied Jerusalem.

During a meeting in Ramallah the factions denounced the ongoing settlement expansion supported by the Israeli government in the city in addition to the new excavations conducted under al-Buraq Wall and the settlers’ repeated incursions into al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards under the Israeli police escort.

The factions pointed to an escalation policy aimed at Judaizing Jerusalem and altering its geographical and demographic character.

They called for urgent intervention at the Arab Islamic and international levels to protect Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites especially al-Aqsa Mosque which is subjected to daily violations.

The factions demanded in a statement activating all international resolutions on Jerusalem particularly those issued by the UN Security Council UN General Assembly and UNESCO and holding Israel responsible for its crimes at the International Criminal Court.

The statement also condemned the daily raids and arrests conducted by the Israeli army in Palestinian towns villages and refugee camps in the occupied West Bank.

It appealed to the world parliaments and human rights organizations to pressure Israel to end this frenzied arrest campaign which recently targeted the member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine’s politburo MP Khaleda Jarrar.

The Palestinian factions expressed their rejection of all forms of incitement against the Palestinian resistance and accusing it of “terrorism”.

They concluded by praising the decision of a Spanish municipality in Madrid to join the anti-occupation BDS movement.
