Palestinian female captive released from occupation jails

Wednesday 16-January-2008

NAZARETH (PIC)– The Israeli occupation authority on Tuesday released the Palestinian captive Taghrid Saadi 25 after serving six years in jail on charges of assisting a human bomber in 2002.

Saadi was arrested along with her elder sister Bahiya in April 2002 on charges of assisting a Palestinian female human bomber from Al-Khalil in carrying out her raid in one of Jerusalem’s markets.

The sisters from Sakhnin town in the Galilee denied the charge and underlined that confessions were taken from them under duress.

Bahiya was sentenced to 16 months in jail which she completed in 2003 after being found “guilty” of not reporting about her sister Taghrid who was the main defendant in the case and received a six years sentence.

Saadi said that despite her happiness with her release yet she was sad for leaving behind many brothers and sisters in occupation jails. She said that her joy would be complete only after all prisoners were set free.
