Palestinian female prisoner injured upon her transfer to Israeli jail

Thursday 24-March-2022

Palestinian prisoner Fadwa Hamada has suffered a leg fracture during her transfer to Damon jail following a family visit.

Her husband said that Hamada broke her leg upon her return to the jail affirming that her injury resulted from the shackles that were used to restrain her movement before taking her to see her children.

Hamada was kidnaped by the Israeli occupation police on August 12 2017 in Bab al-Amud area in the Old City of Jerusalem before an Israeli court sentenced her to 10 years in jail.

In another context the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs said on Thursday that tomorrow could be the first day of open-ended hunger strike in Israeli prisons if the talks with jailers over the prisoners’ demands ended with no results.

In a statement the Commission added that the Palestinian Captive Movement in Israeli jails has the final say regarding the hunger strike calling on prisoner institutions and media outlets to deal responsibly with the issue of the intended hunger strike.

“All the efforts are now focusing on the importance of meeting our prisoners’ demands and their right to live with dignity” the Commission said stressing the need for the Israeli occupation authority to end its restrictions on the prisoners to avoid their uprising.

In a separate incident Israeli prison forces went on the rampage through prisoners’ cells in Megiddo jail on Wednesday.

Soldiers from different prison control units with dogs reportedly stormed section 9 of the jail and ransacked its cells with no known reason.
