Tuesday 13-February-2007

JABALIA (PIC)– A Palestinian fighter affiliated with the AMB the armed wing of Fatah Movement on Tuesday attacked an Israeli army base east of Jabalia north of the Gaza Strip local sources reported.

They said they heard loud noises of trading gunfire east of Jabalia which turned out to be clashes between Palestinian resistance and an IOF unit.

Hebrew sources said that the IOF troops fired at two Palestinians near the border fence between Gaza and the 1948 occupied lands adding that they were targeting an army base.

Medical sources said that the IOF soldiers fired at the ambulance car that was heading to evacuate the casualties which blocked their advance.

Local sources said that the AMB fighter who was killed in the attack is Mohammed Al-Sa’eedi 21.

For its part the AMB said that a group of its fighters engaged IOF units in a pre-dawn raid Tuesday and that a convoy of three armored vehicles was targeted and one of them was set ablaze according to eyewitnesses.

It said that Sa’eedi stormed the base and engaged the soldiers for a long time before his martyrdom. The armed wing stressed that the attack was in retaliation to the Israeli excavations at the Aqsa Mosque.

Two Palestinian civilians were wounded when IOF troops shot at them near the site of the attack.

In the West Bank IOF troops rounded up 18 Palestinians overnight Monday and at dawn Tuesday in various areas in line with their daily arrest campaign in lines of Palestinian West Bankers.

The Hebrew radio quoted an IOF spokesman as saying that 13 were arrested in Al-Khalil three others in Nablus and one in each of Ramallah and Bethlehem.
